In library class, Mr. Hildreth read the story of Rechenka's Eggs, by Patricia Polacco,  to the second graders.  In this story, an injured goose that is rescued breaks the many precious eggs the grandma took weeks to decorate.  A miracle then replaces the broken eggs, and the grandma is left with one very special egg at the end of the story.

In art class, the children worked with Mrs. Luczak decorating real goose eggs.  The eggs were bought from a goose farm with the insides already blown out.  The children used highlighter markers to "paint" wonderful designs similar to the ones in the story.
